【2019 in Review】UDomain going the extra miles with you

Greetings! I am Eric from UDomain. Looking back in 2019, UDomain have enjoyed a fruitful year thanks to the trust of clients and the diligence of fellows. Let me share with you of how UDomain did over the past year.
[1] Where have we been?
UDomain were everywhere to be found throughout 2019. Not only did we – UDomain fellows from different teams and me – take part in a number of overseas events and seminars to promote the importance of network safety, but we also collaborate with peers within the industry for know-hows and intelligence and strive to strengthen the relationships between clients and business partners as always.
Dealing with network safety vulnerabilities has always been a worldwide issue. We have learnt much about network safety through interacting with overseas experts. In August, we were invited to Taiwan to share the experience of discovering major CVE vulnerabilities from an e-learning platform, as well as demonstrating penetration techniques on-site.
Online gaming has been experiencing rapid growth over the past few years, expanding live casino streaming and developing incredible online slot games with great determination, which created huge demands for network stability as well as security. In view of this, we took part in G2E Asia 2019, a key gaming & entertainment event held in Macau, to showcase cloud & network security services such as CDN, game servers & penetration tests.
The Chinese market is full of potential, yet the differences in culture and Internet policies between Hong Kong and China make it somehow risky. We took part in Hong Kong Cloud Expo Asia with “China, in 3 Simple Steps!” as our main theme. We presented the tailor-made China Solutions, to deal with obstacles such as low connection speed and attacks, for participants who were hungry for the Chinese market.
UDomain x AsiaPay Joint Seminar – a Guide to Payment Security
From time to time I have been trying to remind people, on UDomain Facebook page, to pay attention when shopping online. Corporations must be aware of network safety and the ways to protect customers’ information to avoid facing legal consequences. We co-organized this seminar with AsiaPay back in July. Its focus was providing online payment solutions while protecting the data of online shop and customers, leading Hong Kong's customers to a more advanced and secure shopping life.
Not only have we been serving our clients with the spirit of “Grow with Your Business”, but we also believe that the relationships between our clients and us would grow together. We have always wanted to build solid and credible relationships with clients to solve various kinds of problems. Clients together with partners from the industry were invited to a gathering in December, where we made a sharing of our latest developments of various businesses. We look forward to working with you for the business opportunities in the coming year!

2019 has been a fruitful year for UDomain, of which our efforts and contributions were globally recognized. Penetration Test Findings Given 2 CVE Numbers
Solving clients’ problems with the right solutions has always been our mission. And it means so much more when our efforts are recognized by international institutes.
Our team of professional cybersecurity analysts, with the use of Penetration Test (Pentest), identify loopholes and vulnerabilities for our client’s computer systems, making UDomain the first Hong Kong Cloud service provider to be recognized by the CVE international cybersecurity community. When operating the E-learning Consortium School Pentest Project, 2 critical vulnerabilities on an e-learning platform, which could cause serious personal information leak, were discovered. We’re very happy that the developer e-learning platform, after receiving from our side a detailed report and professional advices, were able to fix the vulnerabilities promptly. Our achievements were globally recognized by international safety organization– test results rewarded with 2 CVE numbers, namely CVE-2019-9884 & CVE-2019-9885, and then demonstrated during Taiwan HITCON Community, a major network security event.
Live Event Streaming Support: Major 5G Technology Exhibition in Shopping Mall
To cope with the increasing demands for newly-developed 5G technology, fellow teammates from UDomain and I have been accumulating experience in launching 5G, to facilitate smooth and impeccable applications of 5G for our clients in the future.
A renowned local mobile network service operator, with our technical support, held a major exhibition in a shopping mall displaying Cloud games, VR experience, robotic arms etc. to demonstrate how 5G could be applied to our daily life. Our engineers have been proactively taking part in every steps of project design and execution, as well as monitoring the network performance on-site. UDomain team is packed with rich experience and flexibility for live events. Contingency plans were suggested and promptly carried out when there were technical problems, e.g. network instability during live streaming, to ensure that the event could carry on smoothly.
Global Commercial Enterprise Annual Network Safety Check
What come with the growth of a corporation are the increases in storage of trade secrets and personnel information. To prevent information leakage as a result of hackers, network safety checks are of utmost importance nowadays.
We played the role as external attackers to carry out a Pentest for one of our clients. Following a series of established procedures and technique, the system vulnerabilities were found and thus eliminated to prevent real hackers from exploiting them. Through information gathering, vulnerability scanning and, most importantly, manual tests, our team of OSCE-qualified White Hat Hackers steadily discovered several potential threats, including those of IoT devices and well-known firewalls. Reports with findings and solutions were filed to the client to safeguard the valuable information of the company and its clients.

Facing the rapid society development and the increasing demand for network security, UDomain adheres to the spirit of continuous improvement and has promoted through different channels to raise public’s awareness of network safety and launched a number of network security solutions over the past year to fully escort you.
